Super Proud of one of my u16s making his adult football debut in our close win over tine. Alfie turned 16 on Wednesday and due to someone dropping out in the morning Alfie got his chance to go from youth football to adults after being with the club since he was 8 years old. its excellent to have a place for our young lads to go in to adult football with coaches they know and will protect them. He grew in to the game and worked really hard for his team which is all I ever want from a player. Also very proud dad moment sharing the pitch with my son. hopefully a few more lads will take the step in the coming months
Match Report
Another result which shows our commitment and desire to win. Due to lack of CBs again due to injuries i changed to last seasons 4 2 3 1 formation which worked well last season but apart from controlling possession early on mistakes at the back We found ourselves 2 down quiet early on after struggling to deal with a long ball tactic. We continued to play the ball wide as discussed before the game and our 1st goal was a actually a long ball from Jamie Beddoes which the cb missed timed for me to pass him and put it passed the keeper from the edge of the box. But instead of building on the momentum we conceded again after a free kick was not dealt with and a free header for the tine attacker. Shortly after a clash of three bodies in box changed everything for us our goal keeper ended up on his way to hospital with impact to his lower back. Our only cb also had to go off with possibly damaging his knee on George's lower back.
So a massive reshuffle with captain Nick Caulkin stepped up to go in goal. We shuffled to a 3 5 2 which actually settled us down.
After half time we pressed hard knowing we needed a early goal to get back in it. With me playing coach Paul Boogie Knight made the changes giving Alfie Rollason his adult debut. It was great to play with my boy for the first time. He almost got an assist if I knew how to score with my right foot?. We pulled a goal back after a great finish from hayden after keeper caulkin pumped a ball forward which hayden slotted in the far corner. He got his 2nd goal shortly after when the cut along the edge of the box past a couple defenders to smash it in the top of the net. With about 5 minutes left we got our winner. A fine delivery from Cameron Hamshaw found substitute Rhys Stumbles to hit it under the keeper from the 6 yard box.
Man of the match was unanimously given to young Callum Jewell. Battled for every ball, tracked players on the ball and won the ball with some heavy challenges for a young lad. Two bleeding knees showed his commitment.
Very well reffed by Barry Raiker it wasn't a easy afternoon with both sides putting in the challenges but he kept control of the game and the game was a competitive but nothing malicious.
Massive thank you to Chloe Rollason and Paul Knight for their first aid skills looking after the lads.
Also clo for the pics
On to a real test next week at home to new Inn titans who have played 5 won 5. Especially with out jnjury issues but we will be ready for a battle next week.
